Two men will face court and another is under police guard in hospital, following a shooting, a break-in and an alleged attempt to swim away from police to freedom.
The drama unfolded after officers were called to a house at Lake Macquarie, south of Newcastle, after reports of shots fired on Friday evening.
A man, 49, inside the home suffered a graze to his wrist but didn t need treatment while a woman also at the home wasn t injured.
Police were told an Audi hatchback was seen leaving the scene and soon after learned of an attempted break-in at a club at nearby Redhead involving a car matching the description.
St George Illawarra officials say Jarryd Hayne s claim he was about to sign a $500,000 contract with the club on the day he was arrested for raping a 26-year-old woman is false.
The disgraced fullback, 33, told the NSW District Court during his trial he was on the verge of penning a lucrative one-year deal with the Dragons but after he was charged in 2018 the agreement fell through.
But according to the NRL club, they never tabled an offer to the convicted rapist.
