The Porcupine Health Unit (PHU) is advising that one confirmed case previously reported in Timmins has screened positivefor a variant of concern.
“The individual involved is linked to the outbreak at the Extendicare Long-Term Care Home in Timmins and is currently in self-isolation and following the public health recommendations,” the health unit stated in a release. “It is expected that the variant is the predominant strain in Ontario which is the B.1.1.7 first detected in the United Kingdom.”
