(January 15, 2021 / JNS) Legislation to symbolically rename a street in America’s capital in memory of the late U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg commonly known as “RBG” was introduced on Thursday in the Council of the District of Columbia.

“It’s been also very rewarding,” Casanova said. “I feel that the education and information that we give our students and the future generations is what is going to change our country.”
Yet Sierra Brown, a sophomore, said she almost gave up her dreams for the future after watching the chaos one week ago.
“Maybe being a congressperson, maybe being a judge, doing anything politics or law-related just isn’t for me because I was so scared of what I had seen,” Brown said.

ABA member and attorney Deborah Espinosa is using photography and storytelling for legal empowerment. “That is one of my main missions, to elevate and amplify the voices of poor and marginalized people and communities,” says Espinosa, who now works as a consultant for Landesa. “Not speak for them they are not voiceless; it’s just their voices do not often have platforms.”

Here are just some of the entertainers, innovators, news makers, and people of note that left us this year (in no particular order):
Alex Trebek – Jeopardy! host from 1984 through 2020. The Northern Ontario native also made appearances in numerous television series, usually as himself. He was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Daytime Emmy in 2011 and named an Officer of the Order of Canada in 2017 by then Governor General David Johnston for “his iconic achievements in television and for his promotion of learning, notably as a champion for geographical literacy.”
