LARKANA: Differences have come to the fore between Sindh government and the Indus River System Authority (Irsa) over the authority’s assessment of water shortage as Sindh Minister for Irrigation Sohail Anwar Siyal rejected Irsa’s claim of four per cent shortage and says Sindh is currently experiencing 28 per cent shortage.
The minister said at a press conference at local press club here on Monday that Irsa could not deprive any province of its rightful share in water through wrong figures and false claims.
He rejected the Irsa’s claim that it was providing 71,000 cusecs to Sindh and said the province was drawing only 66,000 cusecs against its indent of 90,000 cusecs from Chashma Barrage. “If we compare water shortage in Punjab and Sindh, we find that Punjab is facing just five per cent shortage,” he said.

KARACHI (Dunya News) – At least three persons were killed in a fire that broke out at a thread factory located in Baldia Town Sector 5 area of Karachi on Tuesday, Dunya News reported.
The blaze quickly spread and engulfed the three floors of the factory. The employees of the factory said that some workers were present in the factory when the fire broke out.
Four fire brigade vehicles and a snorkel reached the spot and started operation and brought the fire under control after a hectic effort of more than five hours.

Cabinet approves law to obtain succession certificate directly from NADRA
Karachi, January 07, 2021 (PPI-OT): The Sindh government, keeping view the lengthy process of obtaining the letter of administration and succession certificates from the court, has decided to enact ‘Letters of Administration and Succession Certificate Bill-2020’ so that it could be obtained directly from NADRA. This decision was taken in the cabinet meeting held under the chairmanship of Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah here at CM House on Wednesday.
