NIMASA helicopters nearing service entry

defenceWeb Written by Guy Martin - AW109 helicopters for NIMASA. The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has received all three of its new AW109 helicopters from Italy and is about to put them into service as part of the Deep Blue maritime security initiative, which will be launched at the end of May. Director-General of NIMASA, Bashir Jamoh, said this week that the agency had earlier received three helicopters which have been assembled and are being tested prior to service entry. Two AW109s were seen being unloaded in Nigeria in late March. “These NIMASA special mission helicopters will alongside the special mission aircraft and UAV drone system collectively constitute the air component of our Integrated Maritime Security architecture. We’re committed to policing our waters for our economic prosperity,” Jamoh said in March.

Security Firm ADT Accuses Rival Ring of Trademark Infringement Over Blue Signage

Security Firm ADT Accuses Rival Ring of Trademark Infringement Over Blue Signage April 28, 2021 Long-time home security firm ADT is suing rival upstart Ring alleging the newcomer is violating its trademarks by using signage that is very similar to the blue octagon logo that ADT has used for decades. In using the similarly colored and shaped signage, Ring is “seeking to tout a reputation for trust to potential customers that it has not earned,” states the lawsuit filed in U.S. district court in Florida. ADT’s suit includes counts of willful trademark infringement and unfair competition against Ring. ADT is a 140-year old security, alarm and smart home services firm with more than a dozen trademarks related to its blue logo. Ring, founded in 2013 as Doorbot, manufactures a video doorbell and other smart home products. Ring was discovered through the TV show Shark Tank, and was later acquired by Amazon.

ADT to Ring: The Blue Octagon Is Our Thing

ADT is suing Amazon’s Ring for allegedly copying its blue, octagonal ADT lawn signs.   Acording to the lawsuit, which accuses Ring of trademark infringement and unfair competition, Ring last month introduced a new product that adopts a blue, octagonal design that’s strikingly similar to ADT’s own lawn signs.  The $89 product is called the Ring Alarm Outdoor Siren. It sits outside a home and will blare a siren and flash LED lights when an installed Ring home security system detects an emergency. However, ADT claims the product has another motive: To trick consumers into thinking Ring is associated with ADT.
