One person has been injured and State Highway 6 is down to one lane after a single vehicle accident near Rai Valley on Wednesday morning. A police spokeswoman said the incident occurred at around 8.10am, just before the Rai Saddle, three kilometres on the Nelson side of the Rai Valley township and involved one vehicle. The Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter was sent to the scene. The sole occupant was extracted from the vehicle, and is understood to have suffered moderate injuries.

Two people have been airlifted to hospital after suffering injuries while tramping in Nelson Lakes National Park. The Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter were alerted to the incident at about 1.30pm on Monday afternoon, after the trampers set off their personal locator beacon after getting into trouble on Moss Pass.
