When he first arrived the Senate in 2007, Senator Smart Adeyemi won a nickname among some Senate correspondents as Man of God.
He was so described on account of his revulsion at the state of things in the polity and even in the Senate.
It was said that when senators gathered privately to discuss issues of “Ways and Means” that is, matters of welfare and Senator Adeyemi was sighted coming, that the senators would quickly change the topic of discussion.
That was generally because of the allegation that he was the one who leaked to the media, issues that senators preferred to keep private.

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), on Friday, called for the arrest of Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, for saying journalists are criminals for calling bandits criminals.
The union expressed reservation on Gumi’s remarks during an interview on Arise TV on Wednesday where he labelled journalists as criminals for calling bandits criminals.
In his interview, Gumi said: “You are emphasising on criminality, I don’t know. Even the Press (journalists) are criminals too because they are putting oil into fire [sic]. These people are listening to you, don’t address them as criminals”.
“It is instructive to note that one of the gangs that were recently interviewed by Nigerian journalist, Abdulaziz Abdulaziz and published in Daily Trust of today where the bandit leader insisted on being introduced properly as “Kachalla Halilu Sububu Seno, Leader of all Terrorists. He is the Leader. Yet Malam Gumi insists they are not criminals.”
NDLEA appoints ex-EFCC spokesman, Femi Babafemi as Media Director

Until the appointment, Babafemi was the Editor of Saturday Sun.
The journalist is expected to use his experience in media and strategic communications to lead the publicity and advocacy campaigns of the NDLEA.
The agency, now chaired by retired Brig. General Buba Marwa, has recorded huge drug seizures in recent weeks.
Babafemi joined The Sun in 2003 as a pioneer staff and left in 2008 when he was named Head of Media and Publicity of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
He returned to The Sun in April 2012 as an Assistant Editor and promoted Deputy Editor in June 2013. He was appointed the substantive Editor of Saturday Sun in January 2017.
