Police vow to nab NTA reporter s kidnappers in Rivers – Punch Newspapers

Punch Newspapers Sections Dennis Naku, Port Harcourt The Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Joseph Mukan, has vowed that personnel of the command will track down and apprehend the abductors of a reporter with the Nigerian Television Authority in Port Harcourt, Mrs Chidiebere Onyia, who was kidnapped by gunmen on Tuesday. Similarly, the state council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists has demanded Onyia’s immediate and unconditional release. Onyia, a mother of three, was said to be returning home from work in company with some of her colleagues when the gunmen intercepted her around 6.30pm. Mukan, who expressed bitterness over the development, said the police had already spread their dragnet wide to apprehend the criminals.

FNPH Promises To Foster Renew Relationship With Edo NUJ

BENIN CITY- The Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital (FNPH), Benin City, has resolved to sustain its renewed relationship with the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State Council. The Chief Medical Director of the Hospital, Dr. Imafidon Osama Agbonile, gave the assurance while playing host to the leadership of Edo NUJ, yesterday in Benin City, the state capital. He said that the resolve was informed by the need for the hospital to maintain strong tie with core institutions in the state. Agbonile acknowledged the importance of the media in the society just as the challenges that confronts practitioners. He thanked the union for the visit, and said that the hospital management was not unaware of the challenges bedeviling the state NUJ, hence the resolve to support the union in whatever capacity the hospital can.
