BILL LACKEY/STAFF Periods of rain and snow will continue Sunday as a cooler airmass moves into the region and a low pressure system heads east Sunday night, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington. Occasional snow showers are possible into tonight and Monday morning. Most spots south of I-70 will mainly see rain during the day, but more snow may fall through the evening and overnight. Lingering snow along the I-70 corridor will transition to snow showers this evening, the NWS reported. These snow showers will move south and be accompanied with a strong north wind and falling temperatures. The combination of the freezing temperatures and patchy accumulating snow will lead to an increased potential for hazardous driving conditions, the NWS said.
