They include the vessel’s Master Wahiduzzaman, 55, and sailor Mojnu Molla, 38. The red vessel, SKL-3, was painted white to conceal its identity but the Coastguards tracked it, said Narayanganj Deputy Commissioner Mustain Billah. Witnesses and survivors said the launch, Sabit Al Asad, packed beyond capacity, sank on Apr 4 after being hit by SKL-3. The captain of the vessel ignored warnings three times, said ‘Anis’, a security guard at the Third Shitalakkhya Bridge project.

Cargo-vessel responsible for Shitalakkhya launch capsize seized 196 NARAYANGANJ, Apr 8, 2021 (BSS) – Cargo ship SKL-3, which pushed the ‘MV Sabit Al Hasan’ launch causing it’s capsize in the Shitalakkhya River on Sunday was seized today from Gazaria in Munshiganj by the Pagla Station Coast Guards’ here. Also, 14 people were detained during the seizure of the vessel. Narayanganj Naval Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shahidul Islam confirmed the incident saying that, “The ship has been handed over to the naval police. We are bringing it to Narayanganj.” He said legal action will be taken after checking whether the detainees are the crews or members of the ship.
