LAHORE:Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid visited Expo Vaccination Centre here Thursday.
Present on the occasion were Deputy Secretary and Project Director Ahmer Khan. The Health Minister took feedback from citizens at Expo Centre to get themselves vaccinated. Ahmer Khan gave a presentation to the health minister about the arrangements.
The heath minister said, “In the last 24 hours, more than 94,000 people have been vaccinated. We are enhancing the number of vaccination centres in Punjab. The decision of lockdown from 8th May is in best interest of people. Next 20 days will be critical to corona control efforts. I request people to be careful about the pandemic. The vaccination staff has been doubled at centres, she added. Alhumdulllah, we are going at fairly faster pace, faster than all provinces. We have vaccinated more than 1.6 million people in Punjab. LAHORE/PESHAWAR: Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces will restrict the movement of people during the Eid holidays May 8-16 as the provincial governments stepped up measures to rein in the third wave of the coronavirus that has battered the two provinces.
The moves came as Pakistan’s active coronavirus cases stood at 84,480 after 4,113 more people tested positive, while 119 more people lost their lives to the disease in the 24 hours leading to Wednesday, according to NCOC data.
Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have been on the receiving end of the third wave, accounting for a significant portion of the case load and fatalities.

Punjab government on Wednesday decided to impose a complete lockdown from May 8 to restrict public movement due to the consistent rise in novel coronavirus cases.
Provincial government took the decision during a session under the chair of Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid to mull over steps for curbing the coronavirus. It has been decided to restrict the public movement by imposing a ban on public transport and tourist spots across the province.
The provincial authorities will establish check post on the entrance and exit routes of the cities where police, Rangers and army troops will be deployed.
