Guwahati: The Personnel (Administration) Department of the Assam Government on Wednesday carried out another round of major reshuffle of IAS officers of the state. Among the 20 changes done, some have been given additional charges while some have been relieved of additional duties and some have been promoted.
Here is the list of 20 officers according to the notification:
1. Paban Kumar Borthakur, IAS (RR-1989), Additional Chief Secretary to the Govt. of Assam, Transformation & Development and Cultural Affairs Department is also posted as Additional Chief Secretary to the Govt. of Assam, Tourism Department as additional charge.
Gauhati University students’ union, said, We need a government, which understands its responsibilities towards the greater Assamese community .
GUWAHATI: A people’s government, which listens to the people and works for the people is what students of various universities are looking forward to this election. During a conversation with TOI, they appealed to the people of the state to establish a pro-Assam government this time, which can provide a constitutional safeguard to the state and its people.
Parshaw Patgiri, general secretary of the Gauhati University students’ union, said, “We need a government, which understands its responsibilities towards the greater Assamese community. The present government does not want to listen to the people. They did everything according to their wish. In a democracy, you need to listen to the people.”

GUWAHATI: Under the Central government s MGNREGA (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act) scheme, only 21,543 households got 100-day job opportunities across Assam till date. With just three months left for the present fiscal (April 1 2020-March 31, 2021) to be completed, the progress of this scheme in the State is indeed quite poor.

MGNREGA is a labour law and social-security measure that aims to guarantee the right to work . The Parliament passed this Act in September 2005. It aims to enhance livelihood security in the rural areas by providing at least 100 days of wage employment in a financial year to every household whose adult members volunteer to do unskilled manual work.
