GUWAHATI: Under the Central government s MGNREGA (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act) scheme, only 21,543 households got 100-day job opportunities across Assam till date. With just three months left for the present fiscal (April 1 2020-March 31, 2021) to be completed, the progress of this scheme in the State is indeed quite poor.
The
MGNREGA is a labour law and social-security measure that aims to guarantee the right to work . The Parliament passed this Act in September 2005. It aims to enhance livelihood security in the rural areas by providing at least 100 days of wage employment in a financial year to every household whose adult members volunteer to do unskilled manual work. NAGALAND: In order to tame the wildfire in the Dzukou Valley on Nagaland-Manipur border, over 3.3 Ton of fire fighting equipment and National Disaster Response Force personal were airlifted to Dzukou Valley, Kohima.
Notably, the battle to douse the wildfire today entered its ninth-day in the famed Dzukou Valley with the fire gaining momentum and moving towards the north side of Dzukou Valley.
It is to be mentioned that multiple mission was carried out by IAF to assist fire fighting and will continue even today.

KOLKATA: After five days, Board of Cricket Control of India (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly has been discharged from Woodlands hospital, Kolkata on January 7.
The 48-year old cricketer said, I thank the doctors at the hospital for the treatment. I am absolutely fine; hopefully, I will be able to fly soon.
