Marathons in Ohio to be held in person in 2021

By Justin Boggs Ohio SHARE OHIO Nearly all of Ohio’s major marathons and half marathons were either canceled or held virtually in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  With Ohio relaxing its COVID-19 restrictions on June 2, many race organizers are announcing plans to hold in-person events for 2021.  This week, the Cleveland Marathon and Columbus Marathon both announced in-person races this October. Previously, the Akron Marathon and Cincinnati’s Flying Pig announced in-person events for the fall. The U.S. Air Force Marathon at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base is moving ahead with plans for an in-person race. A number of other smaller events will be scheduled throughout the summer across Ohio. One of those is the FORE! Miler at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin this Thursday. The four-mile race will kick off Memorial Tournament week at the golf club.

Organizers hopeful for 2021 USAF Marathon - Fairborn Daily Herald

Organizers hopeful for 2021 USAF Marathon By London Bishop - lbishop@aimmediamidwest.com WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE September may look like a long way off, but organizers of the Air Force Marathon are already hard at work putting the race back on the itinerary for 2021. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Air Force Marathon, and so far runners will be welcomed back to Wright-Patterson in full force this fall. Though September is a momentous anniversary for the race, Air Force Marathon Director Brandon Hough said his team is focused on producing the race that they know. “We’re focused on getting the small things right. We don’t want any one detail to fall through the cracks, so everyone has a positive experience,” he said.
