Arashi wins Japan s Gold Disc Award
The Japanese pop group Arashi has won this year s Japan Gold Disc Award for the second year in a row.
The group suspended its activities at the end of 2020.
The Recording Industry Association of Japan presents the award to singers, groups and works for their contributions to the music industry s development.
Arashi won Artist of the Year in the Japanese music category for selling more CDs, videos and Internet downloads than all other artists last year. The group won the award for the seventh time.
British rock band Queen was named International Artist of the Year for the third consecutive year.

On March 15, the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) revealed that artists who won at the 35
th Japan Gold Disc Awards, and among them are the biggest acts in the K-pop scene: BTS, SEVENTEEN, TXT, and Stray Kids.
BTS impressively bagged a total of eight awards at this year s awards ceremony! The Big Hit boy group managed to attain the Best Asian Artist award for the third year in a row. The septet also earned the Best Album of the Year (Asia) award for their Japanese album Map of the Soul: 7 ~The Journey~ and the Best Music Video of the Year (Asia) award.

On a recent Sunday afternoon in February in the young and trendy Shibuya district, Akira Nagai is one of the many customers record hunting at HMV Record Shop Shibuya, which mainly deals in vinyl.
Nagai, 16, has started buying records by Hikaru Utada and other musicians on vinyl, even though the first-year senior high school student from Yokohama subscribes to a music streaming service. The static noise produced when the needle is dropped onto the disc warms my heart, and it lifts my spirits just to see (the records) placed in my room, Nagai said.
The Success of Baekhyun s First Two Mini-Albums
Baekhyun debuted as a soloist in Jul. 2019, making him the third member of EXO to do so. He dropped his debut mini-album City Lights, which went on to sell over 550,000 copies in that year alone. At the time, it broke the record for the best-selling album by a solo act in the history of the Gaon Music Chart. City Lights debuted at number one on the Gaon Weekly and Monthly Chart and ranked at number six on the year-end chart. The mini-album became the best-selling solo album of the 2010s in South Korea.
