Temperatures haven t dropped below 10 degrees in Dallas since 1990, and haven t gone below zero since 1930. Rotating Power Outages Issued The Texas council that manages the majority of the state s electricity initiated rotating power outages Monday morning as a winter storm dropped snow and ice and temperatures remained below freezing. But some customers were without power for several hours. The Electric Reliability Council of Texas has urged residents to reduce electricity. Over 2 million customers across Texas have gone without power as officials worked to conserve energy. In Dallas-Fort Worth, temperatures have fallen into the single digits and wind chills were below zero.

Across North Texas, preparations are underway for the extreme cold snap that could linger for the next seven days. “We pre-treated with our brine solution, which is a saltwater combination, we like to spray that on there and let it dry and we do so that when the winter weather precipitation falls it hits that brine solution and creates something of a saltwater slush,” said Val Lopez with the Texas Department of Transportation. The National Weather Service issued a Winter Weather Advisory through Thursday morning. The advisory said freezing drizzle or freezing rain could impact the Wednesday morning commute, including light icing on bridges and overpasses.

In addition, the country has seen an inconsistent wave of regulations that differ from city to city. The United States currently has a total of 6.2 million reported cases of the coronavirus so far, and over 185,000 have died from the virus.
