(WAFF) - Day two of State basketball belongs to our Class 1A schools. There were two early afternoon games on tap at Bill Harris arena, starting with the Bulldogs of Belgreen. The Belgreen High School boysâ basketball team didnât have any trouble shooting in the new environment Tuesday. The Bulldogs opened the game by hitting six of their first seven shots, including a trio of 3-pointers, to build a double-digit lead midway through the first quarter the AHSAA Class 1A State Basketball Championships semifinals at Bill Harris Arena at the Birmingham Crossplex and rolled to a 66-44 win over Notasulga.

Autaugaville advances to Championship game, Linden s season ends

Alabama News BIRMINGHAM – Autaugaville High School will get the chance to cap a perfect season after clinching a berth in the state finals Tuesday. The undefeated Eagles (29-0) downed Decatur Heritage 62-48 in Tuesday’s semifinals of the AHSAA Class 1A Boys’ State Basketball Championships at Bill Harris Arena at the Birmingham CrossPlex. Autaugaville built a double-digit lead in the first quarter, led by as many as 19 points and held off a late Decatur Heritage rally. The victory sends Autaugaville into Friday’s 1A championship game against Belgreen (26-2), which beat Notasulga in today’s other semifinal. Tip-off for Friday’s title game is set for 4:30 p.m., at Bill Harris Arena.

L-R Men s Indoor Track and Field To Send Relay Team, Heptathlon Athlete to Nationals

For the first time in program history, the Lenoir-Rhyne Men’s Indoor Track and Field Team will send a relay team to the NCAA Division II Championships. The 4×400 meter relay team of Chandelor Stamp, Jacob Wadsworth, Marlin Davis and Lucas Besong will represent the Bears at nationals and Devine Drummond will serve as the alternate. Additionally, Wadsworth also qualified for the heptathlon. The championships will be held March 11-13 in Birmingham, AL at the Birmingham CrossPlex. The University of Montevallo and the City of Birmingham will serve as co-hosts of the championships.
