The highway connecting Quetta and Karachi was closed Monday morning after Balochistan government employees staged a demonstration.
Members and representatives of the Balochistan Employees and Workers Grand Alliance have been holding sit-ins in the province for a week now. They have demanded a 25% increase in their salaries from the government.
The protests started in Quetta on March 29 and have now spread to other districts of Balochistan such as Khuzdar, Chagai, Killa Saifullah, Nasirabad, and Kohlu.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi visited the residence of Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani in Islamabad today (Saturday) and congratulated him over his reelection as the Chairman of the Upper House.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi said the victory of Sadiq Sanjrani is in fact the triumph of the ideology of Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Earlier Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani said that the credit for his victory goes to Prime Minister Imran Khan. He assured that we will serve everyone more than before.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani has said that the credit for his victory goes to Prime Minister Imran Khan. He assured that we will serve everyone more than before.
Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal hosted a luncheon in honor of the newly elected Senate Chairman and Deputy Chairman.
Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani, Deputy Chairman Mirza Afridi, Federal Minister for Railways Senator Azam Swati attended the luncheon including Senators of government and allied parties.
During the meeting, Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani said that he is grateful to the leaders of allied parties including Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal and other senators.
47 incidents last year: Surge in violence against women
16 women lost their lives whereas seven were raped in Balochistan

47 incidents of violence were reported against women last year from four districts of the province, according to a report released by the Aurat Foundation’s Balochistan chapter.
While addressing a press conference at Quetta Press Club on Sunday, Provincial Director of the Aurat Foundation, Allauddin Khilji alongside Member National Commission for Women, Fatima Khan disclosed that 16 women were killed and seven were raped in the aforementioned incidents of violence.
The data shared with the media was collected in 2020 from four districts of Balochistan including Quetta, Turbat, Gwadar and Sibi.

The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan governments initiated the coronavirus inoculation programmes under the leadership of their respective chief ministers on Wednesday.
Frontline health workers in both the provinces were the first ones to get the Covid-19 shots.

The vaccination process for health workers started in the province on Wednesday as a formal inauguration ceremony was held here at Naseerullah Babar Memorial Hospital.
In connection with the countrywide drive to inoculate the frontline healthcare workers against COVID-19, Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan has formally launched the vaccination drive in the province.
