HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WDAM) - Chuck Carter, chief operating officer of AAA Ambulance Service, was named the new CEO of the ambulance service.

Carter has been with AAA since 2001
Over those two decades, Carter has been responsible for all aspects of field operations and communications of the company, including the Southeast Mississippi Air Ambulance District (Rescue 7).

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - A quiet, but strong leader who worked to make Jackson a better place has passed away.
On Wednesday, North Jackson businessman and celebrated community leader Leland Speed died at the University of Mississippi Medical Center after a year-long battle with ALS.
“It’s hard to define everything that he was,” said son Warren Speed. “He loved the city and the state and he saw it as his responsibility to serve the city and the state.

Leland Speed, an influential North Jackson businessman and former executive director for the Mississippi Development Authority, has died, according to reports.
Speed, 88, was hospitalized Monday at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson due to complications from Lou Gehrig s disease, according to WLBT-TV. He passed away Wednesday.
Lou Gehrig s disease also known as ALS is an illness which attacks the nerve cells that control muscles. There is no known cure for the disease.
Speed served as a proponent for several civic engineering projects in and around the Jackson metro area and the state as a whole. He served as the executive director of the development authority from 2004 to 2007 under former Gov. Haley Barbour, where he worked as a volunteer
