Dr. Pamela Saulsberry named Louisiana Social Worker of the Year

The National Association of Social Workers, Louisiana Chapter (NASW-LA) has named Pamela Saulsberry, Ph.D., Louisiana Social Worker of the Year.
Professor Saulsberry serves as Executive Director of the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at the University of Louisiana Monroe. She will receive the award at the NASW-LA Conference in June.
NASW-LA Executive Director Ayn Stehr said the committee s decision was unanimous, calling Saulsberry a model for other social workers and students who has contributed positively to the profession in a meaningful and lasting way.

$300,000 grant supports workforce development in ULM computer programs

With a $300,000 grant from the Louisiana Department of Economic Development, the University of Louisiana Monroe is enhancing the Computer Science and Computer Information Systems programs to produce more graduates ready to enter the technology workforce.

Lt. Gov. Billy Nungesser is launching Louisiana s National Travel and Tourism week by celebrating the first marker on the Louisiana Civil Rights Trail.
The ceremony unveiling the marker at Dooky Chase s Restaurant in New Orleans was held Monday afternoon. The Louisiana Civil Rights Trail has been a three-year Office of Tourism project.
This week, Nungesser plans to travel the state this week to highlight successes and get more ideas about how to bring more visitors to Louisiana and keep residents dollars here.
His office is gearing up for a home for the holidays campaign designed to get more people to come back for Thanksgiving and Christmas and shop at local stores and give the economy a shot in the arm
