Panic at the pump is now creating a problem where none had existed. You may have noticed long lines at gas stations, as people buy extra gas. This is leading to a gasoline shortage at many stations. The panic buying follows a computer hack on the Colonial Pipeline that caused shortage worries. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis joins the governors of 16 other states in declaring a state of emergency. The Snack and Gas station along Powers Avenue in San Jose completely ran out of has around 4 p.m. Wednesday. The owner says he placed an order and hopes to have gasoline again Thursday.

Andy Mikula, Correspondent     Over the last decade, one of the strengths of Flagler Palm Coast’s vaunted track program has been the excellence in relay events, and it looks like the Class 4A state meet will be no exception.    The Bulldogs’ 4x400 relay team of Vijay Weeden, Brandon Kalasnik, Marcus Freeman and Matt Flint took second place in photo finish fashion May 1 at the Region 1-4A track meet at FPC’s Sal Campanella Memorial Stadium. The foursome ran the final event of the region meet in 3:21.58, and for the second week in a row was nipped at the wire by DeLand, which won in less than a half second at 3:21.24. Lake Mary made it an exciting 3-way finish with a time of 3:21.61

09:15 PM EST Share The Northeast Florida business group says Jacksonville City Council should pass the bill but reduce money for JTA’s Skyway upgrades to $190 million. Plans to increase the Duval County gas tax to pay for nearly $1 billion in transportation projects gained the endorsement of the Jacksonville Civic Council on May 10, but millions in the plan to modernize the Downtown Skyway could instead go toward the creation of the Emerald Trail network of parks. The Civic Council urged city lawmakers to pass a proposed increase and extension to Duval County’s local option gas tax to pay for nearly $1 billion in transportation projects, but reduce the amount planned to modernize the Skyway.
