Annie, who lost her husband in October, said she is delighted and privileged to be the first person in the Republic of Ireland to receive the jab.

THE first Covid vaccinations will take place in four hospitals across the country today as the state seeks to protect itself from potential compensation cases over adverse reactions.
Pfizer/BioNTech jabs will be issued at St James’s and Beaumont in Dublin, Cork University Hospital and University Hospital Galway under strict supervision.

Speaking today, Annie said: “I feel very privileged to be the first person in Ireland to receive the vaccine. Like everyone else I have been waiting for the vaccine and I really feel like there is a bit of hope there now. It’s brilliant that it’s here. Everything was explained very clearly to me beforehand.”
Clinical Nurse Manager Deborah Cross administered the first Covid-19 vaccine to Ms Lynch.
Sharing a picture of the moment on Twitter, HSE Chief Clinical Office Dr Colm Henry said: “CNM Deborah Cross administers first vaccine in Ireland to the inspirational Annie Lynch from the Liberties in St James’ Hospital today.”
