This brings the total in the county s hospitals since the start of the pandemic to 346. The latest deaths were all within University Hospitals Dorset, which covers the Royal Bournemouth and Poole hospitals. Death figures in the Dorset Healthcare University Trust and Dorset County Hospital remain at 32 and 30 respectively. The latest case numbers will be released later on Sunday, January 3 but have been steadily rising over the Christmas and New Year period.

The deaths were reported by University Hospitals Dorset, which covers the Royal Bournemouth and Poole hospitals. Since the start of the pandemic, 279 people have died there. There have been 32 deaths in the Dorset Healthcare Universities Trust and 30 at the Dorset County Hospital in Dorchester. There were five deaths reported in Dorset hospitals on Friday, January 1.
