Valley Township seeking funding for park Staff report LUCASVILLE The Valley Township Trustees are preparing to submit a grant application to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Nature Works Program seeking funds for the first phase of a multi-phase, multi-year project to develop a community park in Lucasville. Discussions of a park have occurred several times throughout the years, but it has not come to fruition. Lucasville is one of the only communities in Scioto County without a park and calls for development of a park have been revived led by community groups with support by the Trustees. Talks of a park were most recently presented to the Valley Township Trustees in October-2020, and during multiple meetings over the last several months since, by a community betterment non-profit group, Growing Lucasville Opportunities. Two leaks led to an overnight water outage last week in Cumberland.  Crews began repairs around 10 p.m. Feb 2, and were done by noon the next day. Leaks occured in a field between Main and Carl Streets and along North Broad Street. Looking Back Here is a look back to some of the events happening in and around Cumberland in years past: On Feb. 13, 2011, the Cumberland area was shocked by the announcement that the body of a murder victim had been found along Howell Road. It brought local and regional news crews to the area. There were a lot of questions in residents’ minds at the time. Most of the questions remain unanswered.

LUCASVILLE A Lucasville business group, organized and recently founded to promote economic growth in their town, announced preliminary plans for one project scheduled to start later this year. Growing Lucasville Opportunities Board member Adam Riehl discussed those plans for a community park, one including a playground, amphitheater, and corn hole area during a Valley Township Trustees meeting earlier this week. “I know the folks we’ve talked to are excited about this project,” he said during the Monday meeting, where GLO has an active Facebook page promoting its works.
