New cases dip below 2,000 mark

PUTRAJAYA: The Covid-19 situation in Malaysia continues to show improvement with daily cases dipping below the 2,000 mark for the first time in over a month. Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the country’s infection rate had showed a steady decline in recent days. “Since the Emergency Ordinance was enforced on Jan 11, Malaysia has been showing a consistent downwards trend in daily figures. “This is a positive development and hopefully, the current situation will continue to improve, ” Dr Noor Hisham said in a press statement. Yesterday, Malaysia recorded 1,924 new Covid-19 cases. The last time the country’s daily cases were lower than 2,000 was on Jan 4 when 1,741 new infections were reported, which was before the second movement control order was imposed.

Dr Adham in good health, working as usual two days after inoculation

Two days after getting his Covid-19 vaccine shot, Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba said he is in good health and on duty as usual at his office here today. KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 27 Malaysia registered 2,364 new Covid-19 cases today, with recoveries exceeding infections at 3,320 cases. Of the 2,364 new cases, only one person was infected while abroad. Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also said that 10 patients have died, bringing the total number of Covid-19 fatalities to 1,121 cases. Those still under hospital intensive care treatment total 190 patients, 99 who are in need of ventilators.
