KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 14): Malaysia reported today a fresh record high number of newly-confirmed Covid-19-infected individuals at 3,337, which brought the country’s cumulative figure of cases due to the pandemic to 147,855 so far. A total of 15 Covid-19-related deaths were reported today. Health director general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said via Twitter today that the 15 deaths brought the nation’s cumulative number of Covid-19-related fatalities to 578 so far.
PUTRAJAYA: A Covid-19 cluster linked to a supermarket in Selayang, Selangor has seen 84 infections since Jan 13.
The Jalan Selayang cluster is one of the seven new clusters detected by the Health Ministry on Thursday (Jan 14).
In a statement, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the supermarket involved is located at Jalan Selayang Baru.
He said 511 workers of the supermarket had undergone a targeted Covid-19 screening exercise, and 84 have tested positive so far.
Another cluster, named the Pasir Barat cluster, was detected from a project site in Pasir Gudang, Johor.
Dr Noor Hisham said a targeted screening exercise had been conducted at the site since Dec 21 in phases, and 781 individuals have been tested to date.
A total of 69 Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) branches across Malaysia will not be operational temporarily starting from today (Jan 14) due to the re-enforcement of various levels of the nation’s movement control order (MCO) to curb the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 6 Despite today’s new record high of Covid-19 cases in Malaysia, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the Ministry of Health (MOH) is bracing for another spike in cases in the coming weeks on the back of the recent festive season.
Today, Malaysia reported 2,593 cases, with 965 alone recorded in Selangor.
