MoH: 1,359 healthcare workers infected by Covid-19 since third wave began

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said this includes 43 new cases reported today. This raised the to-date confirmed cases among healthcare workers in the country to 1,771, he said in a statement. Below are five groups of healthcare workers with the highest number of Covid-19 infections since the pandemic hit the country in January: ·Nurses with 690 cases ·Healthcare Assistants with 146 cases ·Assistant Medical Officers with 144 cases ·Graduate Medical Officers with 84 cases As to the source of infections, Dr Noor Hisham said 587 of healthcare workers were infected by the community, 565 cases from transmissions among colleagues, 152 from patients who had not yet been diagnosed with Covid-19, and 58 from unknown cases. 409 cases are still under investigations.

PETALING JAYA: The Health Ministry reported that, for the first time since Oct 29, no Covid-19 death was reported today but 1,683 cases were recorded in the country, taking the total number of active cases to 15,140. The national tally now stands at 90,816, while the death toll remains at 432. Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the majority of today’s cases stemmed from local transmissions (1,675) while eight were imported cases. A total of 1,214 patients were discharged today, bringing the total number of recoveries to 75,244. “There are 106 patients currently being treated in the intensive care units (ICU), with 51 of them requiring ventilator support,“ he said.

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 1,771 Covid-19 infections among health personnel have been recorded so far, with 1,359 cases or 76.7 per cent detected during the third wave of the pandemic, including 43 new cases today, the Health Ministry said. Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said nurses comprised the biggest group who had been infected with 690 cases, followed by medical officers (211 cases), healthcare assistants (146), assistant medical officers (144) and graduate medical officers (84). He said 587 personnel were infected in the community, 565 cases contracted it from their colleagues, 152 were infected by patients who had not yet been confirmed positive, 58 cases with unknown sources of infection and 409 cases were still under investigation to determine the source of infection.
