Health DG: 12 community clusters linked to Raya celebrations found

Set up more field hospitals

KEPALA BATAS: Several states have requested the Federal Government to set up field hospitals to cope with the increasing number of Covid-19 patients, says Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah. He said the requests came from Negri Sembilan and Kelantan, among others and the ministry would look into it on an as-needed basis. “What we can do now is to use every available space we have so that we can treat high-risk Covid-19 patients, ” he told reporters during a walkabout at the army’s field hospital with its intensive care unit (ICU) outside Kepala Batas Hospital yesterday. Currently, the army has set up four such field hospitals in Kapit, Sarawak; Tawau, Sabah; Pokok Sena in Alor Setar, and here in Kepala Batas, he said.

Dr Noor Hisham: Conduct self-lockdown to flatten curve

PETALING JAYA: Setting up more field hospitals and allocating more beds for intensive care is not a solution to the Covid-19 pandemic, says Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

Covid-19: Health DG urges public to practise self-lockdown

PETALING JAYA: Just two weeks of self-imposed lockdown will mean a lot to medical frontliners working around the clock to treat Covid-19 patients, says Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah. The Health director-general said those crucial two weeks will help medical staff replenish equipment and upgrade wards to accommodate those stricken by the virus. “We are in a critical stage now and are stockpiling on equipment and medicines. “The intensive care unit capacity has reached about 91% and in the Klang Valley it is 113%, so we had to repurpose some areas in hospitals into ICUs, ” he said in a joint press conference with Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob on Saturday (May 22).
