PUTRAJAYA: Court of Appeal Judge Datuk Abdul Karim Abdul Jalil reminded Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s lawyer against repeating the same points in the hearing of the former premier’s appeal in the RM42 million SRC International Sdn Bhd’s case.
In asking the counsel, Harvinderjit Singh, to summarise his submissions, Judge Abdul Karim said many of the points had been dealt with by the lead defence counsel Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah in his submission.

PUTRAJAYA, April 8 The bankruptcy notice served by the Inland Revenue Board (IRB) against Datuk Seri Najib Razak for failure to settle some RM1.69 billion tax arrears was a political conspiracy to disqualify him from contesting elections, his lawyer insisted today.
Najib’s lawyer Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah said he was informed that the bankruptcy notice was to be served two days after Umno adopted a resolution to sever ties with Perikatan Nasional at its 75th annual general assembly held on March 28.

“You are repeating it again and again. It is better you use it to relate to the criminal breach of trust (CBT) case against Najib, rather than you bring this thing to us that has been done before by Tan Sri Shafee. Please make us clear.

PUTRAJAYA: Former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak will file an application to set aside the bankruptcy notice served on him following his failure to pay RM1.69 billion in additional income tax arrears to the Inland Revenue Board (IRB).
When met by reporters, lawyer Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah said Najib’s legal team would file an application to set aside the bankruptcy notice and stay the bankruptcy proceedings that LHDN sought to initiate.
“We are also asking for a stay against the RM1.69 billion summary judgment order. We will be filing the necessary documents in a couple of days, seeking not only a stay of the bankruptcy notice but also on the amount being sought by the IRB.
PUTRAJAYA: The prosecution in Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s corruption trial involving RM42mil from SRC International Sdn Bhd failed to establish the former prime minister’s dominion over the stolen funds, the Court of Appeal heard.
Najib’s lead counsel Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah submitted there was a material gap in the prosecution’s case on whether the RM42mil in funds actually belonged to SRC International, a subsidiary of troubled sovereign wealth fund 1Malaysia Develop-ment Bhd (1MDB).
The source of the RM42mil – which was transacted out of SRC International on Dec 24,2014, as well as on Feb 2 and Feb 6,2015 – was also not proven by the prosecution, Muhammad Shafee added.
