Federal Court upholds ruling that Nurul Izzah, Saifuddin Nasution did not defame NFCorp, chairman

PUTRAJAYA: The Federal Court has held that Permatang Pauh MP Nurul Izzah Anwar and Kulim MP Datuk Saifuddin Nasution Ismail did not defame the National Feedlot Corporation Sdn Bhd (NFCorp) and its chairman. In a unanimous decision, a three-man panel chaired by Federal Court judge Justice Mohd Zawawi Salleh dismissed the appeal of NFCorp and Datuk Seri Dr Mohamad Salleh Ismail and ordered them to pay RM50,000 in costs to Nurul Izzah, and Saifuddin who was sued in his capacity as PKR secretary-general. Other judges on the bench were Justices Hasnah Mohammed Hashim and Harmindar Singh Dhaliwal. NFCorp and Salleh had sued Nurul Izzah for her statements made in a press conference at Parliament, during her time as the Lembah Pantai MP in 2012, relating to the company s planned purchase of eight units of condominiums at KL Eco City using RM71.4mil of government funds as leverage some nine years ago.

Nor Salwani: I was nominated for Datukship even before I testified against Najib

KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 23): National Audit Department (NAD) director Datuk Nor Salwani Muhammad has denied that she was conferred a datukship solely because of her role in exposing the alleged tampering of the original audit report of the scandal-hit 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB). Testifying in the 1MDB audit report tampering trial at the High Court, Nor Salwani said she was nominated for a royal award even before her earlier testimony at this trial in November 2019. The award was not just to appreciate me for keeping the evidence. I was nominated by NAD for the Panglima Mahkota Wilayah (which carries the title Datuk) because I have served in the Ministry of Federal Territories and NAD for almost 30 years, she said.

My Datukship has nothing to do with 1MDB case

23 Feb 2021 / 22:01 H. KUALA LUMPUR: A witness in the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) audit tampering trial involving Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak today denied that she was awarded a ‘Datuk’ for testifying against the former prime minister. National Audit Department’s director (Governance Sector) Datuk Nor Salwani Muhammad ( pix), 54, told the High Court here that she was conferred the Panglima Mahkota Wilayah award on Feb 1, 2020, after serving the Federal Territories Ministry for 30 years. She said this when answering a question from lawyer Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah representing Najib, 67, in the trial before Judge Mohamed Zaini Mazlan. Nor Salwani made headlines in 2019 after she testified in the High Court that she hid a voice recorder in a pencil case to record a meeting which discussed amendments for the 1MDB audit report, held on Feb 24, 2016.
