KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 9): Former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak is alleged to have received a total of US$971 million (RM2.973 billion) said to have originated from 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB), without any commercial or business justification, the prosecution in the condo raid of 2018 told the High Court here.
Describing the amount as gargantuan , the discovery follows the investigations conducted by the police s Commercial Crime Unit, that found the three tranches of payment made to the former premier s AmBank account whose last three digits are 9694.
The three tranches of payment are said to be ill-gotten gain, and investigations of the police unit s Anti Money-Laundering by Supt Foo Wei Min found the movement of monies from Good Star (US$120 million in five transactions between 2011 and 2012), Aabar stage (US$170 million six transactions in 2012) and the Tanore stage (three transfers in March 2013).

Today s trial will begin at 1.30pm at the request of former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak s lawyer Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah as he had another matter to attend to this morning.
Yesterday, Hazem touched on the work culture in the state investment arm, explaining that employees had to follow fugitive financier Jho Low s instructions or leave the company immediately.
Hazem said all instructions from Jho Low were to be treated as if they came from Najib himself.

PETALING JAYA: Former attorney general Tan Sri Tommy Thomas has denied defaming Datuk Seri Najib Razak in his recently released autobiography, My Story: Justice in the Wilderness.
Thomas in his reply to the former prime minister’s letter of demand, seeking a public apology, denied all material allegations in Najib’s letter.
The letter of reply through his lawyers, Tommy Thomas Advocates and Solicitors, noted their client denied he had committed the tort of defamation against your client, as alleged or at all.
“We have instructions to accept service of process. All our client’s rights are reserved, ” read the letter dated Feb 4 that was addressed to Najib’s lawyers Messrs Shafee & Co.

(pic) will file a legal action against former Attorney-General Tan Sri Tommy Thomas over an allegedly defamatory statement in his recently-published book, “My Story: Justice in the Wilderness”, which implicates him to the murder of Mongolian woman Altantuya Shaariibuu.
The matter was confirmed by the former Prime Minister’s counsel Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah, when contacted.
“Yes, we are suing him. Yesterday, Thomas had replied to our letter of demand (LOD).he said that he did not defame our client.

“The publisher, namely, GB Gerakbudaya Enterprise Sdn Bhd, has not replied to our LOD. We are going to file defamation suit against both Thomas and the publisher as soon as possible,” said Muhammad Shafee.
PUTRAJAYA (Feb 5): The Court of Appeal upheld the eight-year jail sentence and fine of RM1 million each on four former directors of Genneva Sdn Bhd after it dismissed their review of the conviction and sentence yesterday.
