Pakistan Kabaddi Federation (WKF) Secretary Rana Mohammad Sarwar on Wednesday announced that the country will host the Kabaddi World Cup in 2024 and Asia Kabaddi Cup in 2022, “We have been given the right to host the World Cup in 2024 and the Asia Cup in 2022. This is indeed a great news for Pakistan and for kabaddi fans in the country,” Sarwar said.
He added that the country’s win in the 2020 World Cup was key to attaining hosting rights. “Now Pakistan is a big power in the kabaddi world and that is evident from our successful bid for both the major events to be hosted in the country within the next three years,” Sarwar said.
POA general council terminates AFP membership

LAHORE: The Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) has terminated the membership of Athletics Federation of Pakistan on the ratification of the POA’s executive board decision.
The termination of the AFP was approved in the general council meeting of the POA which was presided over by its president Lieutenant General (retd) Syed Arif Hassan here on Saturday.
The general house did not go into any kind of argument over the decision put forth by the executive board.
In another move the house also approved stern action against former Secretary Pakistan Archery Federation and expressed full confidence in POA President Syed Arif Hassan and Secretary Khalid Mahmood.

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) has convened a General Council meeting of all the affiliated federations on February 13 in Lahore to discuss the strategy and eventsâ management for the 14th South Asian Games to be held in Pakistan in March 2023.
Majority of the federations would be part of the sports extravaganza the country would be hosting after two decades.
âAll the federations will be taken into confidence regarding the POA officialsâ recent meetings with government high-ups regarding hosting of the Games,â a POA official said. The meeting will also discuss the WADA Anti-Doping Code 2021.
The 34th National Games 2021 to be held in Quetta will also be under discussion during the meeting.

LAHORE: The future of Pakistan as host of the South Asian Games 2023 looks quite bright after Prime Minister Imran Khan recently gave a go-ahead signal to the Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) and the Federal Sports Ministry to host the Games.
POA president retired Lt Gen Syed Arif Hasan told media that the prime minister has given the go-ahead signal for hosting the 2023 Games after having a detailed briefing from the POA and the federal ministry in Islamabad a couple of days ago.
Army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa also attended the meeting and pledged full support for the Games which Pakistan would be hosting for the third time after the 1989 and 2004 Games.
