Poetry collection ‘Sheesha-e-Dil’ launched

It is often said that the trials and tribulations of life are best expressed most eloquently in poetic terms. A case in point is the book of poetry of late Usman Khan Usman in which he has highlighted the issues of human life in his poetry.
These views were expressed by Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Syed Fakhre Imam at a book launching ceremony titled “Sheesha-e-Dil”, a compilation of poetry by researcher and poet Muhammad Usman Khan Usman. It was held by the Kohsar Adbi Forum in collaboration with the Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL).
Novelist s death condoled

Islamabad: Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL) Chairman Dr. Yousuf Khushk expressed deep sorrow and grief over the death of woman novelist and former deputy controller of Radio Pakistan Shama Khalid. Shama Khalid was a highly educated and well-known novelist. With her unique style, she gained prominence among contemporary creators, the PAL chairman said in a condolence message.
He said the deceased had left a valuable literary capital in the form of her writings, including books titled Giyan Ka Lamha , Be Chehra Shanasai and Gumshuda Lamhon ki Talash . Dr. Yousuf said the literary services of Shama Khalid will be remembered for a long time.

Islamabad: Chairman of the Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL) Dr. Yousuf Khushk has condoled the death of renowned novelist, critic and educationist Dr. Rashid Amjad.
In a condolence message, he said Dr Rashid Amjad was a self-made man, who achieved prominence among his contemporary writers through hard work, intelligence and constant practice. As a novelist and critic, Dr. Rashid Amjad was one of the most prominent figures in the literary scene, he said.
The PAL chairman said Dr. Rashid Amjad was a very active and literary personality.
He said the effects of thematic and stylistic changes in fiction since the 1960s can be felt in his fiction. More than a dozen of his legendary collections have been published. Dr. Yousuf prayed that Allah Almighty grant the deceased a high position in Paradise and grant patience to those who are left behind.
‘Poets give vision to nations’
Ukranian revolutionary poet Lesya Ukrainka remembered

Nations are formed in the imagination and vision of poets before appearing on the map of the world, said National Heritage and Culture Parliamentary Secretary Ghazala Saifi on Thursday.
“It is an immense pleasure for me to speak on poetry and poets and especially to speak on such a globally acknowledged poetic figure like Lesya Ukrainka,” she said at an event hosted by the Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL) and the Embassy of Ukraine in Islamabad on the 150th birth anniversary of Lesya Ukrainka.
The poems and plays of Ukrainka are associated with her belief in her country s freedom and independence.
