ISLAMABAD: The suspension of the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) by FIFA has surprised the government as newly-appointed director general of the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) Col (retd) Asif Zaman said that the football governing body took the decision in haste.

The director general of Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) Col (r) Asif Zaman has said that the decision of FIFA to suspend Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) took the government by surprise.
Zaman said that Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) Dr Fehmida Mirza had requested for patience during her press conference held a couple of days back.
“We were not expecting such a hasty decision from the football’s governing body,” the DG PSB said. “It has surprised rather shocked us as the game of football will be the ultimate sufferer after such decision. The minister had assured her help for resolving the issue in the best interest of the game.
Uzbekistan has been awarded next year s Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Under-20 Women s Asian Cup.
The AFC Executive Committee confirmed the country would host the event, set to be held from April 4 to 17, during its latest meeting.
Asian football s ruling body also selected Indonesia to stage the 2022 AFC Under-17 Women s Asian Cup, with the tournament scheduled for May 9 to 22.
The AFC said the staging of its Champions League 2020 in Doha had provided a comprehensive blueprint to replicate in 2021 as it targets the resumption of its full schedule of events this year.
The AFC has, like many other organisations, been forced to cancel events because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) on Wednesday suspended the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) after a group led by Syed Ashfaq Shah took over the PFF s control from the Normalisation Committee, appointed by the world governing body, which was being led by Haroon Malik.
A statement by FIFA said that the bureau of the FIFA Council suspended the PFF with immediate effect due to third-party interference, which constitutes a serious violation of the FIFA statutes.
PFF suspended for second time in three years

KARACHI: FIFA on Wednesday suspended Pakistan due to third party interference, a decision that puts the nation into international isolation for the second time in three years.
The country had remained suspended for six months from October 2017 to March 2018 because of the same issue.
“The Bureau of the FIFA Council suspended the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) with immediate effect due to third-party interference, which constitutes a serious violation of the FIFA Statutes,” FIFA said in a statement.
The recent take-over of the PFF headquarters from a group of officials led by Ashfaq Hussain Shah forced the world body to take the decision. “This situation was prompted by the recent hostile takeover of the PFF headquarters in Lahore by a group of protestors and an alleged decision by certain individuals to remove the FIFA-appointed normalisation committee of the PFF led by Haroon Malik and to hand over t
