A 35-year-old Mountain Home man is jailed on a $75,000 bond, after he allegedly set up a meeting with a 14-year-old Missouri boy to engage in sexual activity.
Michael Adam Johnson was booked into the Baxter County Detention Center shortly after noon Thursday after being arrested by special agents from the Arkansas State Police (ASP) Criminal Investigation Division.
According to a news release from ASP, Johnson allegedly lured what he thought was a teenager into the meeting, but was communicating the entire time with a Missouri Highway Patrol trooper assigned to the Drug and Crime Control Division. The trooper, posing as a teenager, had engaged in an internet conversation with Johnson, who subsequently propositioned the undercover officer and arranged the meeting in Mountain Home for the purpose of engaging in sex.

A Baxter County man, 42-year-old Jeremiah Dean Partee, who led police on a high-speed chase on icy roads in Mountain Home earlier this month, before being apprehended, made his initial court appearance Thursday.
Partee, appearing via video hookup from the Baxter County Detention Center, entered a not guilty plea in three open cases locally. His alleged crimes have ties to Howell County, where charges have also been filed.
Court documents released this past week provide further details on the high-speed chase beginning on Arkansas Highway 5 North involving Partee’s fleeing car being struck by a patrol unit. Despite the collision, he continued on, with his car reportedly striking another vehicle, ripping off its bumper.

Two Baxter County Detention Center inmates facing sex-related charges now stand accused of beating up another inmate during a recent jail fight. Thirty-six-year-old Bradley Uren of Gassville and 21-year-old Devontae Sipps of Mountain Home are each facing a felony count of second-degree battery.
According to an incident report, a jailer in the tower witnessed on camera Uren arguing with the victim in the A pod on Feb. 7. Uren allegedly began hitting the victim and later placed him in a headlock in an effort to choke him out. Uren let go of the victim and walked away, but Sipps soon reportedly attacked him. Sipps is accused of hitting the victim, throwing foam padding from a mat at him and hitting him again.
