The 23,000-square-foot facility is located at the front of the hospital in an area previously serving as a parking lot. While the outpatient surgery center had been in the planning stage for about two years prior to the groundbreaking, the medical community has discussed the need for a facility providing this service for about 20 years. Peterson said at the groundbreaking when he arrived at the medical center 12 years ago, he found a book on his desk with information about earlier planning for an outpatient surgery center. More than 1,300 Twin Lakes Area residents got their first doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine for COVID-19 Tuesday in a clinic conducted by Baxter Regional Medical Center (BRMC) in conjunction with Arkansas State University-Mountain Home (ASUMH) at the Baxter County Fairgrounds Education Building. The event was the first off-site vaccine clinic conducted by BRMC to serve members of the public ages 70-and-over. Previously, BRMC began inoculating members of Phase 1A, which was open to healthcare workers, first-responders and long-term care residents and staff.

BC Quorum Court looking at light agenda

The Baxter County Quorum Court is looking at a light agenda Tuesday evening for its regular monthly session at 6.In addition to a regular monthly housekeeping ordinance and a second one to appropriate an additional $2,700 to Baxter Regional Medical Center from a federal COVID-19 block grant, the court will consider four resolutions. Three of the resolutions will be to consider an appointment and five reappointments from Baxter County Judge Mickey Pendergrass to boards. The other one would authorize Judge Pendergrass to apply for a grant on behalf of the Clarkridge Volunteer Fire Protection District to purchase a used pumper truck.
