Mom reunited with kidnapped son 10 years later, accused sent to prison
A KwaZulu Natal boy kidnapped 10 years ago has safely been returned to his biological mom. His kidnapper was sentenced to prison this week.
A 34-year-old woman was sentenced to an effective six years in prison for the kidnapping of a baby 10 years ago. The woman was sentenced in the Empangeni Regional Court in Kwazulu Natal (KZN) this week after she pleaded guilty to the kidnapping.
The biological mother was only 16 years old and her baby boy one week old at the time of the kidnapping in July 2011. The child has since been reunited with his mother.
WINDSOR, ONT. A Windsor man, 29, was sentenced Tuesday in Superior Court for manslaughter and assault on his children, both infants at the time. A court-order publication ban prevents the media from reporting any details that could identify the surviving child. The man admitted to shaking one infant and slapping the other in June 2019. The father said in court Tuesday, “I was just trying to calm (the child) down. The children were crying.” During the hearing, the accused was emotional, even sobbing when the children’s injuries were discussed. Justice Bruce Thomas said one child was fatally injured because of “movement of the skull in a severe, forceful motion.”
Uncle sentenced to life for rape of 10 year-old niece
The 47-year old man who raped his niece had also tried to offer money to the victim s sister and cousin in exchange for sex.
A 47- year- old man was sentenced to life imprisonment in the Kwaggafontein Regional Court for raping his 10-year-old niece.
National Prosecuting Authority regional spokesperson Monica Nyuswa said that on the evening of 21 December 2019, the child had been playing on the veranda of her home when her uncle called her.
“He stayed in the same yard but in a different room. When she refused, the uncle grabbed her, covered her mouth with a cloth and dragged her into his room. He tied her hands and feet with a rope and raped her from behind,” Nyuswa said.
A 32-year old man was today convicted by a jury of threatening his ex-partner with a knife and raping her on Valentine’s Day.
The jury at Belfast Crown Court spent around four hours deliberating before returning unanimous guilty verdicts against the accused.
During the trial, it emerged that the former couple had spent Valentine’s night last year together, and that after they became embroiled in a row, the defendant threatened her with a knife.
He then sexually assaulted and raped her, and before leaving her north Belfast home he said to her “do you hate now me? Happy Valentine’s Day.” He also threatened to “end” her if she went to the PSNI.
