One-week complete lockdown imposed in Maharashtra s Amravati amid Covid spike

Mumbai, Feb 21: Amravati district in Maharashtra will be placed under lockdown for a week, in view of the rising COVID-19 cases. The lockdown will be in force till 8 am on March 1. However, essential services will remain unaffected. One-week complete lockdown in remain in force in Amravati district excluding Achalpur city, beginning 8 pm tomorrow, said Guardian Minister Yashomati Thakur.
The lockdown announcement in Amravati comes hours after the district administration in Pune shut down schools and coaching centres till February 28.
Apart from the week-long lockdown in Amravati, certain restrictions will be in place in four other districts of Amravati division- Akola, Washim, Buldhana and Yavatmal- with a view to curb the spread of the virus, an official said.
Maharashtra government on Sunday decided to impose complete lockdown in Amravati City and Achalpur town of the district from Monday to contain the sudden surge in the Coronavirus cases in the region.

The weekend lockdown in Maharashtra s Amravati was extended on Sunday as fresh orders were issued for a total lockdown in the district starting Monday, February 22, in the wake of rising Covid-19 cases. One-week lockdown in Maharashtra s Amravati from February 22 
Maharashtra: Following a weekend lockdown order, a fresh one-week complete lockdown has been ordered for Amravati district of Maharashtra, said Guardian Minister Yashomati Thakur. Excluding Achalpur city, the lockdown will remain enforced in the entire district. All essential services are permitted. The fresh order was issued on Sunday in the wake of a surge in coronavirus cases in the district.
