Tottenham Hotspur drew 0-0 at mid-table Reading to go five points clear of the Barclays FA Women’s Super League relegation place.
The first half had few clear-cut chances but Tottenham’s Alanna Kennedy attempt from outside the box forced Grace Moloney to get down and make the save, then close to the interval Jess Fishlock got through on the right but saw her shot rebound back off the face of the near post.
Fran Kirby on song as Chelsea soar to season s first silverware
Fran Kirby and Sam Kerr led an incredible show of attacking power to blast Chelsea past Bristol City and lift the FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup for the second time.
Emma Hayes’s side have been beaten once in 26 games in all competitions this season and that never looked like changing as Kerr netted a hat-trick and Kirby a brace at Vicarage Road.
The Blues, who won the last completed edition of the competition in 2019-20, will hope to sweep domestic silverware, in command as they are of the Barclays FA Women’s Super League.
Chelsea FC Women face Bristol City in the Continental League Cup final this afternoon and captain Magda Eriksson expects a tough encounter at Vicarage Road.

Everton were 4-0 winners at Birmingham City in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League despite losing goalkeeper Sandy MacIver to an early injury.
MacIver was unable to continue after a challenge outside the box on Claudia Walker, for which she was booked following a lengthy delay for treatment.
Tinja-Riikka Korpela replaced MacIver very early in the game but it was Everton who opened the scoring, when Hayley Ruso’s cut-back was turned in by Gill Scott.
