The Football Association and Premier League have released the below statement. The Football Association and the Premier League have successfully applied to the International Football Association Board [IFAB] to introduce additional permanent concussion substitutions trials across the Premier League, Barclays FA Women’s Super League and FA Women’s Championship and Emirates FA Cup. The dates for the introduction of the trials include:
Premier League – from 6th February 2021
Barclays FA Women’s Super League
and FA Women’s Championship – from 6th February 2021
Emirates FA Cup – from the Fifth Round, 9th-11th February 2021 With player welfare the priority, the protocols will allow a maximum of two concussion substitutes to be used per team, with the opposition side able to use the equivalent number. The additional concussion substitutions may be made regardless of the number of substitutions a team has made already.

The Premier League have confirmed that the International Football Association Board have approved their application to introduce concussion substitute trials across the top level of English football.
The trials will take place across the Premier League, FA Cup, Women s Super League and Women s Championship starting from 6 February.
Teams in those competitions will be granted an additional two substitutions on top of their standard allocation, to be used when a player is diagnosed with or suspected of having a concussion.

Chelsea set a new Barclays FA Women’s Super League record of 32 games unbeaten when going top with victory away to Aston Villa.
Emma Hayes’ side eclipsed Manchester City’s previous record of 31 set between May 2015 and May 2017, to take back the leadership from Manchester United on goal-difference.
Villa again fell behind in the opening minutes of a game, as they failed to clear a Niamh Charles cross and Sam Kerr hit the loose ball in off the underside of the crossbar.
