Bartholomew County Sheriff’s chief deputy Major Chris Lane announced Tuesday that Bartholomew County Sheriff Matt Myers and many of your BCSO deputies are now wearing the special bicentennial breastpins.

COLUMBUS, Ind. – After a three-month investigation, an arrest warrant for child molestation was issued for Joseph B. Tucker, 52, of Columbus, late Tuesday afternoon.
On October 30, 2020, a possible child molesting incident was reported to the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office and an inquiry began.
Following the investigation, the suspect was arrested and preliminarily charged with two counts of child molestation and one count of furnishing alcohol to a minor.

COLUMBUS, Ind. – Four people were busted on felony charges Wednesday evening after the Columbus Police Department (CPD) pulled a car over for a minor violation, at around 6:20 p.m., near 17th and Union Streets.
Officers spoke with the driver, Kristopher Harris, 35, of Columbus, and determined that his driver’s license was suspended. A Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office deputy and her police dog also responded and the K-9 reportedly alerted to the odor of narcotics inside the car.
During a search, CPD allegedly found a glass smoking pipe containing methamphetamine, several syringes, marijuana, controlled substances, and a .22 caliber rifle.

COLUMBUS, Ind. (WISH) After attending the inauguration Wednesday, Vice President Mike Pence is scheduled to fly home to Columbus where he will be met by a few dozen well-wishers.
Considering it comes in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic, it’s an invitation-only crowd. Bartholomew County Treasurer Barb Hackman, who is the county Republican Central Committee chairperson, will be there.
“We are so proud to have the vice president here in our hometown of Columbus,” Hackman said.
But in less than a day, the title will become former vice president.
Preparations were well underway Tuesday at the Columbus Municipal Airport to welcome Pence home about 2:45 p.m., just a couple hours after his replacement is sworn in.
