Strong interest in winter travel to Barbados

Barbados appears to be a hot item with foreign travellers looking to escape the coming winter months.
And according to Roseanne Myers, the recently-appointed chair of the Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc (BTMI) and the Barbados Tourism Product Authority (BTPA), the island is experiencing “very strong demand” for the coming September to December period.
As millions of Americans, Britons, and other Europeans secure their COVID-19 vaccines and Barbados releases a set of enhanced COVID-19 protocols, operators in the local sector are quietly hopeful of a much safer return of mass tourism, than occurred last year.
Carter gets BTMI Global Markets post

The Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc (BTMI) is putting its confidence in one of its stalwarts as interim lead in the vacant position of Head of Global Markets.
Cheryl Carter, who has been with the BTMI for several years, has been appointed in the position that was held by outgoing acting BTMI chief executive officer (CEO), Petra Roach.
Roach’s sudden resignation was to take effect from June 30, however, she has since been announced by the Grenada Government as the incoming CEO of the Grenada Tourism Authority.
According to BTMI chairperson Roseanne Myers, the national tourism agency was pleased with the performance of Carter, who is currently director of the United Kingdom market.

BTMI to host entry and safety protocols sensitisation workshops

The Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc., in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Wellness, will be facilitating two Entry and Safety Protocols Sensitisation Workshops on Thursday, April 22, and Friday, April 23.
The workshops will be held at the Hilton Barbados Resort, Needham’s Point, St Michael, and will offer attendees the opportunity to gain first-hand information on the new entry and safety protocols for the industry.
There will be two sessions each day, with the first session running from 9:00 a.m. until 12 noon, and the second from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.
Apes Hill development announced veteran tourism executive Sunil Chatrani is now a shareholder and has taken up the leadership role as its Executive Chairman.
Chatrani, former Chief Executive Officer of the Elegant Hotel Group, is building the team to relaunch the 450-acre site, currently undergoing significant redevelopment, and scheduled to reopen in November 2021
Chatrani has more than 30 years of experience in finance, tourism, mergers & acquisitions and strategy, in Barbados and throughout the region.
“Sunil is a visionary, trusted and proven leader,” commented Glenn Chamandy, who purchased the assets of Apes Hill in early 2020, “His market knowledge and strong relationships are exemplary, he is ideally suited to drive the future success of Apes Hill.
