Amber alert canceled for missing four-year-old girl By WECT Staff | February 24, 2021 at 5:22 AM EST - Updated February 24 at 7:31 PM
BRUNSWICK COUNTY, N.C. (WECT) - Aubrey McFarland, the four-year-old Brunswick County girl who was allegedly abducted by her father on Wednesday, has been found safe in the Nashville area, according to officials with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office.
The BCSO public information officer tweeted, “Special thanks to Nashville Metro PD who assisted with locating the vehicle, Doug Atwood, an off duty officer heading home when he assisted, and a wonderful citizen who saw something, and said something! She is a true hero!”
It’s a common sight in the low-lying region of the Cape Fear - standing water covering the roadway. For some, driving through the water seems like a better idea than turning around, but the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office has posted a photo of an incident showing why that is never a good idea.
A registered sex offender was arrested last week for failing to comply with his sex offender requirements by not notifying authorities of an address change. Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Detectives Capt. Gene Caison said Steven Earl Taylor, 34, reported to law enforcement he was living at 2483 Jolly Roger Drive in Supply as part of his requirements as a registered sex offender. But after weeks of routine sex offender checks by sheriff’s office patrol deputies, Taylor could not be found at the Jolly Roger home since Feb. 7.
