Man shoots it out with cops in daring rescue of 2 sons facing drug charges in Zamboanga City

Police are investigating the possibility that the suspects, also male siblings, were rescued by their own father. Investigation and a manhunt for the suspects are ongoing. The victims were identified as Police Corporal Nicolo Leon Luna III and Police Staff Sgt. Bobby B. Judan. The two are personnel of the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU 9). Investigation showed that the policemen initially brought brothers Jonar and Moner Jul-Asri to the Zamboanga City Medical Center to secure medical certificates as part of COVID-19 protocol. While the group was walking towards their vehicle outside the hospital, an unidentified gunman fired at the policemen at close range. The policemen were wounded but one managed to fire back.
