Slowly, but surely, things all around are starting to get a little closer to what we remember as being normal.
And that’s encouraging, especially when you look back and think about how much we’ve gone through in the past year.
We’ve experienced stay-at-home orders, seen businesses and restaurants forced to operate on reduced hours or closed (some, sadly, permanently) and been kept from seeing friends and relatives.
Then there are all of the gatherings and events that had become staples in our lives that had to be canceled or, in some cases, shifted to a virtual format.

CADIZ Around 65 percent of Harrison Hills City School District employees are now fully vaccinated after receiving the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine Friday.
Superintendent Dana Snider said around 150 staff members received their second dose of the vaccine during the schools’ clinic held throughout the day Friday. The inoculations started bright and early with the first appointment at 6:30 a.m., she said.
The Harrison County Health Department and Franciscan University of Steubenville nursing students helped with the vaccination efforts.
“We are very fortunate for all the assistance,” Snider said. “We are very appreciative for all that the Harrison County Health Department does. They have been so responsive to all of our needs for COVID. They are a wonderful health department.”

STEUBENVILLE Franciscan University of Steubenville is considering changing its campus access, contingent on acquiring a 10-foot strip of land next to Super 8 as well as another small parcel on Franklin Avenue near Capri Sausage Shop and convincing the city to vacate Franciscan Way West.
During Tuesday’s planning committee meeting, the university’s Joe McGurn briefed council on the concepts which he said are being talked about in university circles though no decisions to move forward have been made.
“It’s possible within the next couple of weeks, the board meets in April, that we’ll get authorization from our board to make Super 8 a residence hall,” McGurn said. “If that happens, we’ll be looking at starting renovations there this summer to make it an upper class residence hall.”
