AKRON Goodyear is raising prices April 1 on all passenger tires by up to 8% in North America, its first price hike in 2021.
The Akron-based tire maker said the price hike affects all Goodyear-, Kelly- and Dunlop-branded tires.
Goodyear
last raisedtire prices on Dec. 1, prices for Goodyear- and Dunlop-branded passenger and light truck tires in the U.S. went by up to 5%.

AKRON When Goodyear made its initial inquiry combining the top two U.S.-based tire manufacturers, situated 132 miles apart, both with a century of history behind them executives at Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. said they felt comfortable with their company’s current trajectory.
“We were feeling quite good about the strategy and direction of the company,” Cooper CEO and President Bradley Hughes said.
Once serious talks commenced, Mr. Hughes said it became clear Goodyear’s offer to purchase Cooper for $2.5 billion in a cash and stock deal was the right one for two reasons.
“Ultimately we needed to represent our shareholders, and Goodyear, first of all, presented a very compelling offer for the company,” Mr. Hughes said, “and secondly, very compelling strategic logic . really positions the combined entity to be successful going forward.”
Bridgestone supporting NHL diversity/inclusion initiatives

NASHVILLE Bridgestone Americas Inc. is committing $200,000 to the National Hockey League Foundation to support NHL diversity and inclusion initiatives that will create more access to the sport for children and youth in Las Vegas and Nashville.
The donation, partially funded by the Bridgestone Americas Trust Fund, will benefit the Vegas Golden Knights Foundation and Nashville Predators Foundation and support new community outreach projects in both cities, Bridgestone said, noting the pledge advances its commitment toward building an inclusive world that celebrates equality and promotes diversity.
