A Lompoc man, who pleaded guilty to the murder of his 18-year-old girlfriend, received a prison sentence last week of 28 years to life.
On March 25, 2020, Brenden Michael Terry, 21, shot his girlfriend, Sarah Stoffle. Terry then pleaded guilty to murder and three counts of assault by means of force likely to produce great bodily injury.
During a hearing in Lompoc Superior Court, Judge Montes De Oca sentenced Terry to 28 years to life in prison.
Angelica Stoffle, Sarah Stoffle’s mother, spoke during the sentencing hearing and described her daughter as a beautiful person.

As family members spoke about Sarah Stoffle, they held photos of her and an urn so that they could be seen on the Zoom camera during the victim impact statements.
Sarah’s mother, Angelica Stoffle, said, “My heart will forever be broken.”
“She could make the grumpiest person smile and laugh with her lightheartedness,” Angelica Stoffle said. “There’s an emptiness inside of me due to Sarah’s death that will haunt me everyday for the rest of my life.”
“There is not a single day that I don’t think about my Sarah,” grandmother Connie Hernandez said. “I miss her with my entire heart, and I will feel like a part of me is missing for the rest of my life.”
