On May 20, the winners for the innovation award, “Renewable Material of the Year 2021” held at the three-day Renewable Materials Conference 2021 were announced. The three winners include Plantics and Vepa (Netherlands) for a hemp fiber and thermoset bioresin chair collection; LanzaTech (Skokie, Ill., U.S.) for household cleaners produced from recycled carbon from steel emissions; and Carbios (France) for enzymatic recycling of PET, respectively. According to event organizers, this was the first time innovations highlighted covers bio- and CO

th International Conference on Bio-based Materials, announced on April 29 the six nominees chosen by its advisory board for its “Renewable Material of the Year” Innovation Award. The comprehensive award, sponsored by Covestro (Leverkusen, Germany), looks for brand new applications that aim to avoid or substitute fossil-based virgin materials (produced either from biomass, directly via CO

Nominated out of 36 submissions, two in particular, Malai Biomaterials Design (Kerala, India) and Dutch furniture manufacturer Vepa (Hoogeveen, Netherlands) and Plantics (Netherlands), apply composites; all nominees will present their new technologies and applications at the May 18-20 online event. The award winners will be chosen by the conference participants online on the second day of the conference.
Online Renewable Materials Conference 2021 organized Which renewable materials are solutions that meet the needs of future societies?
As a response to this question, nova-Institute has decided to unite all relevant industries in the new Renewable Materials Conference from May 18 to 20, 2021, featuring a concept to present all renewable material solutions at one event: bio-based, CO
2-based and recycled. There is a growing market demand for advanced and ready-to-use renewable-material solutions with a low carbon footprint that are fossil-free.
The three-day program of the first Renewable Materials Conference is almost final and gives an overview of the latest renewable material solutions, a performance show for a wide range of sustainable raw materials and technologies.
