EDF Renewables signs PPA with BASF for Texas solar project Email Chemicals company BASF has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with EDF Renewables North America to acquire 55MWac/73MWdc of energy from a solar plant in Texas, US. The Space City Solar project will be located in Wharton County, Texas, and will use bifacial solar PV modules. The Louise Independent School District, which is leasing land for the project’s development, could earn US$1.8 million in tax revenue in the project’s first year of operation if the district enacts a state-specific tax relief clause by the end of 2020. The project is also expected to create US$30 million in tax revenue for Wharton County entities.

NIPSCO finishes first two Indiana renewable projects in electric transition plan

Daily Energy Insider Published on February 03, 2021 by Chris Galford © Shutterstock The Northern Indiana Public Service Company LLC (NIPSCO) brought its first two Indiana-based wind projects online this week, bolstering clean energy offerings to customers in the state. The two facilities Rosewater Wind and Jordan Creek Wind are part of a 10 project push from NIPSCO, all selected through a Request for Proposals announced in its 2018 Integrated Resource Plan (IRP). Another project, the 300 MW Indiana Crossroads Wind Farm, is currently under construction, but the remainder should begin construction over the next two years. The push for wind resources followed the 2018 IRP’s conclusion that wind and solar resources were lower-cost options for customers than other energy resource options. NIPSCO also intends to fully eliminate coal usage by 2028 through a mix of these resources, as well as natural gas and hydroelectric generation. The company estimates this could save custom

First 2 NIPSCO wind projects complete

Two new wind farms are now online and generating electricity for NIPSCO, the company announced Monday.Â The Indiana-based projectsÂ âÂ Rosewater Wind in White County and Jordan Creek Wind in Benton and Warren countiesÂ â are generating enough electricity to power 125,000 homes, according to NIPSCO. We are excited to welcome these wind assets to our generating portfolio, NIPSCO President Mike Hooper said in the company s announcement. He said the projects were the first to be completed in the company s Your Energy, Your Future plan,Â which sets the goal of being coal-free by 2028 through the addition of cleaner energy sources to its existing portfolio of natural gas and hydroelectric generation.
