Image Source: IANS News Lucknow, May 16 : While many states have curtailed the vaccination in the 18-44 years age group, citing lack of vaccines, the Uttar Pradesh government is preparing to expand the drive in this age group from Monday. According to the government spokesman, vaccination for 18 plus group will be conducted in 23 districts of the state from May 17. The 23 districts include Aligarh, Agra, Prayagraj, Kanpur, Ghaziabad, Gorakhpur, Jhansi, Bareilly, Meerut, Moradabad, Lucknow, Varanasi, Saharanpur, Firozabad, Mathura-Vrindavan, Ayodhya, Shahjahanpur, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Mirzapur, Banda, Gonda, Azamgarh and Basti.

PIL seeking reduction of COVID vaccine price filed in Delhi HC ANI | Updated: May 15, 2021 23:00 IST By Sushil Batra New Delhi [India], May 15 (ANI): A public interest litigation has been moved in the Delhi High Court seeking direction to respondents to reduce the price of COVIDvaccine for citizens. The petitioner Rakesh, a social activist, through Advocates AK Dubey and Pawan Kumar states that earlier the price of COVIDvaccine at the private hospital was Rs 250 which was reasonable. The petition states that Hyderabad-based Bharat Biotech has fixed the price of Covaxin to the state government at Rs 600 per dose while the same is priced for private hospital at Rs 1200 per dose. Similarly, the Pune-based Serum Institute of India, the manufacturer of Covishield fixed the price at Rs 400 per dose for state government and Rs 600 per dose for private hospitals. The prices are higher in India than in foreign countries.

Gujarat halts vaccination for 45-plus for 3 days with revision in schedule

Inoculation of people in the age group 45 and above in Gujarat was halted for three days from Friday following a revision in the COVID-19 vaccination schedule after the Centre s decision to increase the gap between two doses of Covishield, the state government said. However, during these three days, vaccination will continue for people in the age group of 18 to 44 years who have already registered themselves and received SMSes, said a state government release. The Centre on Thursday approved extending the gap between the two doses of the Covishield vaccine from 6 to 8 weeks now to 12 to 16 weeks following a recommendation from a government panel.
